Quality Transformation

Company: Accenture
Client: Google

PROJECT SUMMARY

After being invited to join the Quality Assurance team, I became responsible for evaluating vSPMs, delivering structured feedback and improving overall quality standards across the programme. Beyond assessing performance, I identified opportunities to optimise processes, standardise feedback and redesign onboarding materials for new team members.

During this period, our team's quality score improved from 65% to 98% over all the categories, while onboarding became more structured, scalable and consistent through the training sessions and documentation I developed.

THE CHALLENGE

When I joined the Quality Assurance team, overall quality performance was significantly below target, feedback processes lacked consistency and onboarding relied heavily on individual knowledge rather than standardised documentation.

The challenge was not simply identifying mistakes, but creating an environment where quality became easier to achieve through clearer processes, better coaching and continuous knowledge sharing.

MY ROLE

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, I evaluated vSPMs against Google's quality standards, provided detailed coaching and feedback, identified recurring performance trends and partnered with team members to improve overall quality.

Alongside my QA responsibilities, I redesigned onboarding documentation, delivered training sessions for new joiners and introduced improvements that made knowledge transfer more efficient and consistent across the team.

MY APPROACH

Rather than treating quality as an audit function, I approached it as a continuous improvement process.
I focused on identifying patterns instead of isolated errors, allowing coaching sessions to address root causes rather than individual mistakes. I simplified complex policies into practical guidance, created structured documentation and worked closely with colleagues to build confidence rather than simply measuring performance. My goal was to create systems that enabled people to succeed independently while improving consistency across the entire team.

THE OUTCOME

- Increased overall team quality from 65% to 98%.
- Standardised onboarding materials and training processes.
- Delivered in-person onboarding sessions for new vSPMs.
- Improved consistency in quality evaluations and coaching.
- Reduced dependency on informal knowledge sharing by creating scalable documentation.
- Recognised for leadership potential and invited to shadow the Team Lead.

KEY LEARNINGS

- Sustainable quality improvements come from better systems, not stricter controls.
- Coaching is most effective when focused on behaviours rather than individual mistakes.
- Standardisation increases consistency without reducing flexibility.
- Documentation becomes a strategic asset when designed for scalability.
- Continuous improvement depends on collaboration across the entire team.

IF I WERE DOING THIS TODAY...

If I were leading this initiative today, I would integrate AI into the quality process to make coaching more proactive and data-driven.

I would build dashboards that automatically identify recurring quality trends, use AI to summarise feedback patterns and develop personalised coaching recommendations for each team member. This would allow Quality Assurance to focus less on reporting past performance and more on preventing future issues.

Ultimately, this experience reinforced my belief that quality is not achieved by inspection alone. It is the result of well-designed processes, clear communication and a culture of continuous learning.
